Bronwyn Campbell

Associate Diploma in Arts.

After retiring from Primary teaching to have her family, Bronwyn became passionate potter in the 80s and 90s. She completed a part time, four year course at Penrith TAFE, studied under Kevin Buick and completed an Associate Diploma of Arts at UWS in 1991.

After completing a Graduate Diploma in Adult Basic Education, UTS, a full time TAFE teaching position made pursuing her craft difficult. Upon retirement, Bronwyn has rediscovered her passion.

“My wheel thrown, domestic and decorative pieces are inspired by the natural and rural landscape; Aboriginal art and the unique, ancient, Japanese, Jomon pottery. I enjoy using slips to trail pour and carve to create designs, adding decorative coils and carving into the body of the ware. Currently my favourite glazes are shino and a tenmoku/chun combination glaze. My pots are fired in a Stephen Harrison designed, four burner ceramic fibre kiln.”

Bronwyn was recently awarded first and second in open thrown, Penrith Show, and received the Highly Commended Council award from the Penrith City Council.
